About Victor
Victor Salazar learned to roll cigars at his grandfather's kitchen table in Little Havana. He later worked for a tobacco importer, visiting small factories in the Caribbean and Central America and learning how leaf is grown, aged and blended.
He opened his members-only lounge eight years ago. It now has about 250 members and a walk-in humidor stocked mostly from small factories he has worked with for years. His evenings are spent on the floor with members; his days go to ordering, licensing, ventilation maintenance and planning the monthly pairing nights.
Victor hosts because he enjoys teaching people how to judge a cigar's construction, and because the story of opening a lounge involves more permits and lease negotiations than most people expect.
