About Andre
Andre Silva began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a teenager in São Paulo and earned his black belt there. He fought professionally for six years, moving to the U.S. to train and compete, and started teaching classes on the side to cover rent.
He opened his own gym after retiring from fighting. It now has about 400 members, a staff of coaches and a small amateur and professional fight team. He still teaches the 6 AM fundamentals class himself, then spends most of the day on scheduling, memberships, coach pay and matchmaking for his fighters.
Andre hosts because he made expensive mistakes in his first two years and wants to save others from repeating them. He shares real numbers on pricing, churn and what a fight team costs to support.
